JOHN CLEMENT "CLEM" SHAY
John Clement "Clem" SHAY, son of Jeremiah and Anna SHAY, Served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a charter member
of the Mount Ayr American Legion, receiving his 50-year pin. He wore this pin with great pride until his death. Clem said
that on the day he was discharged from the Army, he went to his brother Charlie's home where their aged father Jeremiah
SHAY was living. They played cards that evening, then retired for the night. Jeremiah passed away that night in his sleep.
