Pfc. L. Dee Norris Injured Writes from Hospital Ship
The following letter was received the first of the week by Mr. and Mrs. Guy NORRIS from their son, L. Dee, who is with the
armed forces in the Pacific. April 12, 1945 Dear Folks: Dont (sic) be scared by the strange
hand writing. I got my right arm shot up a few days ago, so can't write myself and a Red Cross Worker is writing for me.
I am on a hospital ship now and will be in another hospital in a few days. I may even get to go back to the states for
hospital care. Keep writing to my old address and your letters will be forwarded to me wherever I go. We get good meals
every day and ice cream every afternoon and I eat all I can get, so you know I'm not too sick. Tell Lorene the reason I
havent (sic) been writing her is because I got my right arm hurt, and I'll get a letter off to her later.
Your son, Pfc. Lawrence D. Norris, 37678885 Co. I 382 Inf. A. P. O. 96, Care Postmaster,
San Francisco, California. Written by Frances C. Palmer Red Cross Worker
