Noble retires from Air National Guard

A Mount Ayr native has retired after a career in the United States Air Force and Iowa Air National Guard.

Cheif Master Sergeant David W. NOBLE, retired July 1 from his position as the antiterrorism officer, 132 Fighter Wing, Iowa Air National Guard in Des Moines.

He served as the wing authority and expert on matters involving anti-terriorism and force protection requirements, policy, procedures and program statues. In this position he served as a consultant to the wing commander, vice-commander, wing staff and the like on force protection initiatives.

Chief NOBLE enlisted in the United States Air Force under the delayed enlistment program January 24, 1983 and went through basic at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.

Following basic training and security specialist technical training school there, he was assigned to the 314th Security Policy Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. He was discharged from active duty in November 1987 and was employed by the state of Iowa Department of Public Defense as a military security guard.

In December 1988, he enlisted in the Iowa Air National Guard and was assigned to the 132nd Weapons Systems Security Flight as an alarm response team member traditional guardsman. During this time he deployed to a variety of locations including Egland, the Bahamas, Alaska and Hawaii.

In April 1994 he accepted a full-time position as an active guard and reserve with the 132nd Security Forces Squadron and held several positions there before taking the antiterrorism officer position in January 2006.

He has held the rank of chief master sergeant since February 2002.

He has received a number of major awards and decorations during his career in the service.
