CPL Robert L. McDOWELL, born in 1921, the son of Jesse Leander &Marie S. McDOWELL of Norwalk, Iowa, served during World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps., 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. CPL McDOWELL was K.I.A. at Iwo Jima on March 11, 1945, and interred at Oliver Cemetery, Ellston, Ringgold County, Iowa.
