Pvt. George Allen McCREARY was born in Atlantic, Iowa, on August 2, 1896, the son of James H. and Hannah N. McCREARY. A resident of Knowlton, Iowa, he enlisted on June 5, 1918 with the 54th Ambulance Corps during World War I, and died in 1918 while in service. He was interred at Centenary Cemetery near Knowlton, Ringgold County, Iowa.
