Mrs. Katie CARR of Maloy sent her four youngsters into the service of their country during World War II.

Maurice Leo CARR entered the service in June of 1941, serving with the 79th Infantry. Maurice was discharged at the rank of T/5 in November of 1942.

Patrick F. "Pat" CARR entered the service and was assigned to Headquarters 41 Cavalry, the 11th Armored Divison of the 3rd Army which was under the command of General PATTON. Patrick saw action in many major engagements which included the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. He was with his unit when they liberated the living skeletons confined at the concentration camps of Mauthausen and Gusen. Patrick was overseas from 1942 to 1946. He obtained the rank of sergeant.

LTOR-T/5 Edward J. "Ed" CARR entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was assigned with Company B-254 Infantry, 63rd Division of the 7th Army. Edward was discharged in 1946.

T/Sgt. James W. CARR, the youngest brother, entered the service in 1942. He was stationed in the hospital at Fort Des Moines and Fitzsimmons Army Hopsital in Colorado. James was discharged in 1946.
