David A. CARLTON of Diagonal, Iowa, was born January 2, 1916. He served during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps, H Company of the 2nd Marine Division. He was killed in action during the Battle of Tarawa in the Pacific Theatre on November 20, 1943, and was interred at Clearfield Cemetery.
