BOB OLNEY FAMILY
Bob and Vera OLNEY and their daughter Faye moved in and out of the Maloy community. On March 1, 1943, the family moved
to the Dennis SHAY tenant house, and Bob worked for him. This house burned after the OLNEYS had moved back to Redding.
Again in March they moved to Roy LEPLEY'S farm south of town. After five years in 1955, they went back to their home
grounds of Redding. But in 1955 Maloy needed a telephone operator. They moved into the Central Office and Vera became
the Central Operator. Mr. OLNEY died in March of 1964. Faye had married Perry MAGGARD, and they lived in Des Moines.
Vera elected to give up her job here and go to Des Moines where she found employment as a telephone operator for a business
there. Vera remarried in a few years. She and her husband made many visits to friends in Maloy and to visit her aged
mother in Mount Ayr. Vera passed away some years back. Lee MOTSINGER, Vera's youngest brother, made his home with them,
and he went to school in Maloy from eighth grade in 1946 until he graduated in 1951. He now lives in Minnesota.
