Pat was with the armed forces from 1942 until 1946 after which he was again at home in Maloy.

He worked for his brother, Frank, until 1951 when he became the rural mail carrier out of Maloy. Later the Maloy route was consolidated with the Blockton and Bedford routes. Pat carried this route until his retirement in 1980.

Pat and Gladys C. STEELE of Mount Ayr were married February 6, 1954 and they with her son, Dan STEELE, made their home in Maloy. Gladys taught school in Mount Ayr until 1956 at which time she changed positions and started teaching in Maloy. She retired from teaching in 1963.

Gladys and son, Dan, originally came from Winterset, Iowa. She is the daughter of the late Delbert and Ruth CLARK of that city.

Dan is the son of the late Hugh STEELE whose birthplace was on a farm near Maloy. Since 1934 they have been associated with the former Raymer STEELE farm. Their present tenant is the Danny STEWART family.

Dan graduated from high school in Mount Ayr in 1956. He then enrolled in the University of Iowa where he chose dentistry as his profession. He completed this degree in 1962.

In 1959 Dan married Phyllis BEARD of Cedar Falls. He served two years in the Air Force after which he and Phyllis made their home in Cedar Falls. They have four adopted children - Sandra Elizabeth GALBREATH, Paul Michael, Pamela Jean KLAPPRODT, Anthony Patrick and two grandchildren - Jennifer Danielle GALBREATH and Noah James KLAPPRODT.
