BIOGRAPHICAL ~ THE MOBLEY FAMILY
MAUDIE &ALBERT MOBLEY
Albert and Maudie (GARRETT) MOBLEY and their four children moved from Worth County, Missouri, to the Tom SHAY place,
northeast of Maloy, first house north of Highway #2 near Goose Pond Center, in 1928. Albert enjoyed playing baseball
with Clyde (Peanut) COWELL for a number of years. Albert and Maudie are buried in Grant City [MO]. Their daughter,
Alberta, and husband, Delmar VanWINKLE of Clearfield have one daughter, Linda. She and husband, Denny KERNS, live at
Clearfield with their three children: Amy, Shane and Rachel. Albert and Maudie's son, Denzil, graduated from Maloy, where
he played basketball in 1938. He and wife, Darlene GAULE of Clearfield, made their home in Marshalltown where in 1975
Denzil died of cancer. He is buried at Clearfield. A daughter, Hazel, married Robert LAUGHLIN (deceased) of Parnell,
Missouri. She graduated from Maloy, but now resides in Lakewood, Colorado. Two children were born to this marriage: Ellis,
who lives in California, and Beverly, residing in Colorado. Another son, Burl, married Martena VANDERPLUYM of Diagonal.
They have two sons.

MARENA &BURL MOBLEY
Burl was born to Albert and Maudie (GARRETT) MOBLEY at Grant City, Missouri. He attended elementary school at Benton and
three years of high school at Maloy, where he played basketball. In 1941, he graduated with a class of six boys - Jim
SHEIL, Clarence CULVER, Duane WEBB, Max HAIDSIAK and Bill WYMAN. On January 24, 1947, Burl married Martena VANDERPLUYM,
daughter of Louis and Lizzie VANDERPLUYM, at the Immaculate Conception Church of Maloy with Father CULHANE officiating.
Martena attended country school in Lincoln Township in Ringgold County and high school at Lenox. She taught country
school before their marriage. Burl and Martena still live on a farm north of Maloy on Highway #2. Burl farmed and drove
a school bus for twenty years, from 1957 to 1977. Martena was Postmaster at Benton from May of 1960 to November of 1976. She
then transferred to the Redding post office. Burl and Martena have two sons, Paul Glee and Ronald Lee.
JANICE &GLEE MOBLEY
Paul Glee was born December 15, 1949. Glee attended school at Benton and Maloy, and graduated from Mount Ayr High School
in 1968. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. On June 29, 1973, Glee and Janice
Kay LARSON, daughter of Phillip and Alberta (TURNER) LARSON of Clearfield, were united in marriage at the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Maloy. Janice, born June 27, 1954, graduated from Clearfield High School in 1972. Glee and
Janice made their home on the former Albert MOBLEY place north of Maloy, where they still reside and farm. Glee works at
the Soil Conservation Service in Mount Ayr, while Janice is an aide/secretary for Mount Ayr schools. Glee and Janice
are the parents of three children: Paul Wyatt, born May 19, 1974; Elaine Dawn, born December 15, 1975; and
Melonie Lynn, born September 6, 1979.
SUE &RON MOBLEY
Ronald was born February 28, 1951. He attended elementary school at Benton and Maloy. Ron graduated from Mount Ayr
Community High School in 1969, and then attended Northwest Missouri State University. On January 23, 1971, Ron married
Monica Sue SIVERLY, daughter of Fred and Virginia SIVERLY of Clearfield, in the Immaculate Conception Church in Maloy.
Ron and Sue lived in Maryville, Missouri, until June of 1971 when they moved back to the family farm north of Maloy.
Ron farms and operates a bulldozer. Sue graduated from NWMSU in 1986 with a degree in elementary education. Ron and
Sue have three children: Gregory Lee, born August 25, 1971, and twins, Brian John and Marci Sue, born February 12, 1974.
