VIRGIL DEARDORFF FAMILY
Virgil DEARDORFF is a retired farmhand. He and his wife Pearl live in Clearfield. They lived around the Maloy
vicinity for several years.
Their son, Virgil Jr., is also a retired farmhand. He is married to LaVaun RUNDELL of
Bedford and they also live in Clearfield. They are parents of four children and have four grandchildren. Virgil Jr. "Little
Virge" graduated from the eighth grade at Maloy. Barbara lives in Clearfield and has been empolyed at the Clearview
Home for twenty years. Before that she was employed at the Taylor County Home and Montgomery County Homes as an aide. She
graduated from Maloy with the Class of 1950.
Marion Keith is a retired army officer and lives in Colorado. He is
married. He and his wife Joan, who is from Massachusetts, are the parents of five children. Three of their sons are in
the service. They have two grandchildren. Keith, like Virgil, graduated from the eighth grade from the Maloy schools.
Verna is married to Mervin FLETCHALL of Grant City, Missouri where they have lived all their married life. Verna has
worked at the Grant City Manufacturing Company for 15 years. Mervin is a carpenter and painter. They have one son
who has two children. Verna also graduated from the eighth grade at Maloy. The DEARDORFFS had twin daughters next,
Bonnie and Connie. Bonnie is married to Jerry FLETCHALL from Grant City, but they have lived their entire married life in
Clearfield where he has been employed 24 years by SPURRIER Oil Co. She had been employed by the Clearfield Cafe since
it opened 14 years ago. They have five children and four grandson. Connie ASHER lives at Worth, Missouri and
is employed at the Rival Manufacturing Company in Albany, Missouri. She has one son. The youngest DEARDORFF child was
Phillip. He married Kay AYRES of Mount Ayr. They live at Ravenwood, Missouri. Phillip earns his living by working construction,
and Kay is employed as a cook at Maryville. Their family consists of four children and three grandchildren. The
DEARDORFF family lived in the Delphos area before coming to Maloy. Their names began showing up in school records in
the 1942-43 school year. Verna related that the girls attended church at the Christian Church in Maloy while it was
open. They lived in the Tom SHAY house 2 1/2 miles west of town. They moved to the Clearfield area from there.
NOTES: Virgil DEARDORFF was born January 25, 1911, and died in July of 1987. Pearl DEARDORFF was
born September 22, 1905, and died in December of 1987. Philip DEARDORFF was born August 9, 1891, and died in
October of 1983. They were interred at Clearfield Cemetery.
