OVERHOLTZER REUNION
The 85th annual OVERHOLTZER reunion was held August 3, 2008 at the Tingley Community Center. David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER
and family hosted the event. David OVERHOLTZER returned thanks followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag led by
Olivia OVERHOLTZER. At 12:30 p.m. a bountiful dinner was enjoyed by 53 relatives and guests. Everyone enjoyed the
digital picture frame where David displayed pictures of previous reunions. Also on display were scrapbooks and family
pictures. David conducted the business meeting. Secretary-treasurer Jenesse TULL read the minutes and gave a treasurer's
report. A collection was taken to cover expenses for another year. John and Mary OVERHOLTZER volunteered to host the
2009 reunion on the first Sunday in August at the same location. Letters were read from Jack and Marie KENDALL, Richard
and Joyce OVERHOLTZER and Donna and Chuck HUDSON. David showed pictures and told of he and his family being invited to
Washington, D.C. to an event celebrating Lincoln's birthday. While there they were given an incredible 2 1/2 hours private
tour of the White House. The girls say the best part of the tour was going into the back yard and meeting and petting
the President's dogs, Barnie and Mrs. Beasley. David announced that he has created a website for the Iowa OVERHOLTZER
family. He asked for email addresses so he can communicate. He will be searching and entering family history. He also
asked John OVERHOLTZER to contact Grace MILLIGAN about the Blue Book she has published entitled, "Christian OVERHOLTZER
and his father, Jacob." He would like her to sign over the copyrights to the book to the Iowa OVERHOLTZER Organization.
David introduced special guests, Dennis and Earline OVERHOLTZER from Paradise, PA. Dennis reported on their "OVERHOLTZER
Family Association" located in Lancaster county, PA. He told of his genealogy research and explained the ties between
the families with the different spelling. He showed books and pictures and told of their reunion dates and locations.
he invited all to attend anytime. The meeting closed with Glenda and Gerald LUCE singing and playing the dulcimer.
They will be playing at the state fair. Marriages reported were Rick SCHWITZBERGER and Annie Rachell JOHNSON on
July 12, 2008 in Des Moines; Brandon Dean GREENE and Nikki Lyn KUNZIE on Augut 18, 2007 in Tingley; David John
HUDSON and Jessica Effie ANDERSON on September 1, 2008 in Kimberly, OR. Births reported were: Whitley Ann HUDSON,
born June 27, 2008 to David and Jessica HUDSON; Isabel Dawn PARSONS, born November 26, 2007 to Casey Lynn (OVERHOLTZER)
and Jared PARSONS; Hunter John Edward McCLELLAND, born March 25, 2008 to Shawntel and John McCLELLAND; Bracken Wayne
COLLIER, born February 1, 2008 to Shayla GREENE and Cameron COLLIER; Jaize Zeke FROST, born September 11, 2008 to Ava Jolene
FROST and Joshua Steven HEIDTMAN. Deaths reported were: Donald Earl OVERHOLTZER, died August 6, 2007 in Melrose.
