Overholtzer Reunion
The 82nd annual OVERHOLTZER reunion was held Aug. 7 at the Tingley Community Building. David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER
hosted the event. David is the son of Dwayne and Rosemary OVERHOLTZER and the grandson of Wayne and Ellen OVERHOLTZER.
The tables were beautifully decorated by Jim and Lila OVERHOLTZER in a patriotic theme using red, white and blue
carnations. David SCOTT returned thanks followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag led by Olivia OVERHOLTZER.
At 12:30 p.m. a wonderful dinner including roasting ears, homemade ice cream and a special cake decorated by Eileen
OVERHOLTZER, was enjoyed by the 69 relatives and guests present. Following dinner, David conducted the business
meeting. Secretary-treasurer Jenesse TULL read the minutes and gave a treasurer's report. She was retained in office for
another year. A collection was taken to cover expenses for another year. John and Mary OVERHOLTZER volunteered to host the
reunion in 2006 which will be held the first Sunday of August at the Tingley Community Building. John also showed pictures
of Grace MILIGAN taken on her 102nd birthday and told of her wishes to attend the reunion. Everyone signed a card to sent to
Grae in Kansas City, MO. Letters were read from Richard OVERHOLTZER, Arthur HENRY, Jr., Charlotte BUFFINGTON, Fran WAHL,
and Casey and Sheila RUMFELT. David told of his involvement as campaign manager in Pottawattamie county for the re-election
of President Bush in 2004. As a result of his hard work, he and Suzanne were invited to a Christmas party at the White
House. They were one of five couples from Iowa to attend. They also were invited to attend the inauguration in January
and attended the Independence Ball after the inauguration. They had many pictures of themselves with George and Laura
Bush and lots of stories to tell. Everyone was very proud of them. Rosemary OVERHOLTZER brought bells and directed all
the children in a bell chorus. Other talents enjoyed were fiddle solos by Christian and Christiana OVERHOLTZER, a piano
solo by Olivia OVERHOLTZER, and a clarinet solo by Maddie OVERHOLTZER. Prizes were awarded to Don OVERHOLTZER as the
oldest person present, to Silvia POORE as the youngest person, and to Vickie SOWERS who had a birthday closest to Aug. 7.
One marriage was reported: Thomas SOWERS to Elizabeth EBERHARDT on May 21, 2005. One birth: Timothy James McCANN to
Melissa and Eric McCANN on Jan. 21, 2005. He is the great-grandshon of Don OVERHOLTZER. Those attending the reunion from
out of state were Bret, Eileen, Katie and Jake OVERHOLTZER, Jeff BROWN and Debbie JAKLEVIC of Lenexa, KS, Roger and Joni
ROBISON of Overland Park, KS, Danny and Lisa COWDEN, Steve, Scott, Joyce and O'Neal SCOTT, Tim and Brantley SCOTT and Vickie
SOWERS of Bolivar, MO, David and Revonda SCOTT and Camden WELCH of Dunnegon, MO and Casey and Jared PARSONS of Manhattan, KS.
Those attending from Iowa were Jim and Lila OVERHOLTZER, Cleone HOSFIELD, Justin, Jess, Sadie and Dawson FROST of
MOunt Ayr, Don and Ethel OVERHOLTZER and Gloria BENDER of Melrose, Rosemary OVERHOLTZER, David, Suzanne, Maddie, Ellen,
Olivia and Callie OVERHOLTZER of Council Bluffs, Rita CANNEY, Alex and Abbie CROUSHORE of Adel, Doug and Joyce FROST,
Jolene FROST and Jaixen and Josh HEITTMAN of Kellerton, Mildred LUCE, Gerald LUCE and Glenda MAST of Decatur City,
Martel, Beverly, and Silvia POORE and Florence SCHMIDT of Des Moines, Dick and Lenore OVERHOLTZER of Weldon and Jana
JOHNSON of West Des Moines. Those attending from Tingley were Harold and Eloise BROWN, John F. and Mary OVERHOLZER
and Christian and Christiana, Bob and Jenifer JOHNSON, Margaret HULL and Howard and Jenesse TULL.
