Link family receives Iowa Century Farm designation
The Link Family of Mount Ayr accepted the Century Farm Aard this year at the Iowa State Fair on Tuesday August 12.The
Link Farm, located just north of Mount Ayr off of Highway 169, was purchased in 1914 by Jacob and Sara Etta Link. It
ws passed down to son John and Rosetta Link and then passed to Algie and Loraine Link. Sadly, Algie passed away on
October 1, 2009. Living on the farm now is son Denis Link. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship
has partnered with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation since 1976 to recognize families that have owned and worked on a
farm for 100 years or more. This year 344 farms were added to the growing list of Century Farms found across the
state. This brings the complete list of farms have enjoyed at least 100 years of ownership by the same family to more than 18,330.
