Faris-Sawyer Reunion
The second FARIS-SAWYER reunion was held in Fort Collins and Loveland, CO on August 6, 7 and 8, 2004. Fifty-seven people
from over four states attended on, two or all of the gatherings. Friday evening family members gathered at the
Trinity United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Loveland and enjoyed a barbecue beef, Iowa corn-on-the-cob, salad
and dessert bar supper. Saturday evening a great time was enjoyed in the city park in Fort Collins with a fried
chicken supper with a salad and dessert bar. Sunday evening left-overs were enjoyed at the home of Denise and Wagner
KELLY in rural Loveland. Other events enjoyed by those attending, besides visiting and reminiscing, were a Rockies
baseball game, a Broncos football practice session, swimming, touring the Budweiser plant, riding the trolley from the city
park to Old Town Fort Collins, riding the train at the park, pitching horseshoes and playing ball. Everyone enjoyed
looking at the three large family photo albums that were put together and updated by Roberta HARRIS with the assistance
of Katie FARIS. They had so many pictures and many items of interest. There were also notebooks with genealogy information
on the FARIS, HOLLEN, SAWYER and VAUGHN families that were the results of research and documentation by Louise STAMPER
and Elizabeth FARIS for those present to review. The Wilbur FARIS family members attending were: his son, Jim and Katie
FARIS of Lancaster, CA and their grandcon, Derreck FARIS of Las Vegas, NV; his son, Lee FARIS of Mount Ayr and his family,
Rodney and Elizabeth FARIS and Michael of Mount Ayr and Jennifer and Shawn BYRD and BrieAnn of Diagonal; his daughter,
Louise and Doyle STAMPER of Mount Ayr and their daughter's family, Marcia and Brant SNOOK, Christopher and Donovan of
Fort Collins, CO; his daughter, Lucille and Ronald DEEMER of Davis City and their family, Christine and Larry OPFER, Eva,
Elissa and Ethan of Colfax, and David and Lisa DEEMER, Brooke, Kipler and Jeremy of Lamoni; and his son, Lyle FARIS
of Mount Ayr and his family, Debbie KLOMMHAUS, Kylee and Konner of Mount Ayr, DiAnna and Shawn BRINKS and Alaina of Altoona
and DeAnna and Mark PENNINGS and Taylor of Sioux City. The Lynden FARIS family members attending were: his wife, Gladys
FARIS of Santa Rosa, CA; his daughter, Karla and Bill MOBERLY of Santa Rosa and their family, Bryan and mary Ann MOBERLY
and Bryson, also of Santa Rosa; his son, Robert FARIS of Santa Barbara, CA; and his son, Richard and Judi FARIS of Menlo
Park, CA. The Edith SAWYER THOMPSON family members attending were: her daughter, Darlene and Don KLING of
Loveland and their family, Dennis KLING, C.J., Tyler and Annie and Denise and Wagner KELLEY, Calvin and Camryn, all of
Loveland. Those family members who were unable to attend and were greatly missed were: Roberta FARIS HARRIS of Lancaster,
CA and her family, the Ernest SAYWER family, Barbara SAWYER ROHN of Melborne, FL and her family, Jim and Katie FARIS'
children and their families; Lee FARIS' daughter, Jackie and Russell STEWART and their family, Rodney and and Elizabeth
FARIS' sons, Richard and Justin; and Karla and Bill MOBERLY'S daughter, Laurie and Danny WILLIAMS and their family of
Davis, CA. The next reunion will be held in Iowa during the weekend before the Iowa State Fair in 2006.
