THE EVANGELICAL CHURCH
Ellston, Iowa
The Evangelical Church of Ellston was organized in the 1870's. At first, the congregation met in various schoolhouses.
In 1883, the congregation built a white framed church in the town of Wirt [present-day Ellston] at the cost of $1,600.
Reverend WORTH was the minister, and Frank NEWMAN was the superintendent of the Sunday School. The church was located
one block north of the Ellston Hotel. The Evangelical Church building was later sold to the Christian Church congregation.
It was not standing after the 1930's.
