ANDREW STEVENSON
Andrew STEVENSON, section 17, Tingley Township, is a native of Guernsey County, Ohio, born October 5, 1840, a son
of John and Margaret (HENDERSON) STEVENSON.
In 1862 [September 30] he enlisted [as a Private] in the defense of his country, and was assigned to Company A, Eighty-eighth Ohio
Infantry, and was
discharged in June [25], 1865.
He was married in April, 1864, to Mary C. GILBERT, of Licking County, Ohio. After his return from the war he engaged in
farming until 1868, when he moved to Ringgold County, Iowa, and located on his present farm, which contains 200 acres of
choice land.
Mr. and Mrs. STEVENSON have five children - Byron, Margaret, Elizabeth, Sadie and Ida. Two are deceased, the eldest,
Ella, and the third, May. They are members of the United Presbyterian church, at Eugene.
NOTE: Andrew STEVENSON died on November 23, 1896. Mary C. (GILBERT) STEVENSON was born
January 5, 1840, and died March 3, 1908. Andrew and Mary were interred at Eugene Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
Andrew and Mary's daughters, May STEVENSON died October 9, 1870 at the age of 2 years, 1 month and 4
days; and, Ella STEVENSON died at the age of 18 years, 1 month and 6 days on October 27, 1883.
May and Ella were interred at Eugene Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
Andrew's mother, Margaret (HENDERSON) STEVENSON, was born April 25, 1821, and died February 1, 1864,
with interment at Big Darby Cemetery, Plain City, Madison County, Ohio.
