ISAIAH OGIER
Isaiah OGIER, farmer, section 9, Monroe Township, was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, February 10, 1833, son of
James and Mary OGIER. When he was nine years of age his parents moved to Jackson County, and later to Vinton County,
where Mr. OGIER passed his early life on a farm and in attending the subscription schools, taught in log school-houses.
He was married October 19, 1854, to Miss Emeline NIXON. In 1861 he removed to Louisa County, Iowa, where he resided
ten years; then came to Ringgold County and settled upon his present farm in Monroe Township. It was then in its
primitive state; but he has since improved it until he has brought it to its present condition. His farm contains 160
acres of land, a good residence, surrounded with native grove, and a fine orchard. He is engaged in farming and
stock-raising. Mr. and Mrs. OGIER have had eight children, seven living - James A., H. S. Elizabeth E., Hammond,
Mary Woodruff, Josephine, William C. and Almon P. Eva died at the age of two years and two months. They have given
their children good educational advantages, and they are well fitted to take a good position in society. Josephine
and William C. are teachers. Mr. OGIER has served as township trustee, township treasurer and township assessor. He
has always taken an active interest in anything pertaining to the advancement of education and religion. Politically
he is an independent Republican and a strong Prohibitionist. He is classed among the leading citizens of Ringgold

NOTE: Isaiah OGIER died April 10, 1902. Emeline (NIXON) OGIER died April 24, 1902. Isaiah and
Emeline were interred at Oliver Cemetery near Ellston, Ringgold County, Iowa.
