REV. THOS. M. EVANS
Rev. Thos. M. EVANS, pastor of the United Evangelical churhes at Delphos, Ringgold and Salem, was born in Putnam
county, Ind., Dec. 17, 1855, his parents Rev. M. L. and E. EVANS, removed to Lucas county Ia. Here he spent 20 years
on the farm and in school. At the age of 20 he commenced to teach and at the age of 23 he preached his first
sermon. He continued as student, teacher and preacher until his 28th year, when he was married to Miss Martha A.
MULLEN of Story county, Iowa, and entered the regular ministry. He is a preacher of the fourth generation, his
father, grandfather and great grandfather all having been ministers. He also has a brother who is a minister
and a sister who is a missionary in Hyderabad, India. The Quarterly Review says of him: "Two characteristics
whih enter into all his work are conscientiousness and intense earnestness. He leaves no stone unturned to put all
his work in the very best shape."
