GEORGE R. ESTELL
George R. ESTEL, a son of Jacob and Anna ESTEL, was born in the State of Pennsylvania September 11, 1834. We was reared to the
avoction of a farmer, remaining on the farm till twenty years of age, when he began learning the carpenter's trad. He was united
in marriage to Miss Martha ROACH, who was born June 6, 1840, she being the daughter of George ROACH, a native of
Pennsylvania. To this union were born five children, of whom four are still living - Annie M., born December 11, 1859; R. A.,
born April 26, 1862; William, born January 14, 1866, and John M., born February 12, 1869. A son, Jacob, was born July 24,
1864, and died in infancy. Mr. ESTEL came to Ringgold County, Iowa, in 1874, when he located on his present farm in Lincoln
Township, and beside his agricultural pursuits follows the carpenter's trade. He has met with success since coming to
Ringgold County, ans is now the owner of 200 acres of as good land as can be found in his township. He has always
been an industrious citizen, and by his honorable dealing and strict integrity he has gained the respect of all who
know him. In his political views he is a Democrat. He is a member of the Odd Fellows order, belonging to lodge No.
555, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
NOTE: NOTE: Jacob ESTEL died at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 17 days on May 9, 1881.
Anna ESTEL died at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 28 days on August 30, 1889. Jacob and Anna were interred at
Rising Sun Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
