Population, 1,500. the judicial seat of Pocahontas county, is an incorporated town on the C.R.I. & P. Ry., in Center township, 106 miles northwest of Des Moines, and 40 northwest of Fort Dodge. It has a public school, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, water works, sewer system, 3 banks, a motion picture theatre and 2 weekly newspapers, the Record and the Democrat.
