The building was struck by lightening Aug. 24, 1900. Western Union College was to have opened in September 1900. But when a lightening strike burned the building, it was not until September 1901 that the college officially opened. Thoren Hall The north side of Bonebrake Hall at Westmar College in LeMars The east side of Wernli Hall, known as the "Fish Bowl" on the former Westmar campus, earned its nickname from the glass-windowed walls. Wernli Hall was demolished on March 12, 2002. This photograph shows the chapel and theater room on the upper level of Thoren Hall on the Westmar campus.
