McCorkell Family Reunion Held
Some of the descendants of the Howard and Estalla McCorkell family
enjoyed the weekend of July 24, visiting and reminiscing. Sisters, Dorothy Whitaker of Hamilton, Ill., and Jeanne Esterburg of Alexandria, Minn, hadn't been together for nearly 12 years. They, along with Wesley and Myrtle McCorkell, Salem, S.D.; Caryl Siebens and Melvin and Lois Nielsen, Akron; Jerry and Carol Whitaker and sons of Hamilton, Ill; Corke Higland, Grand Forks, N.D.; and James Mentzer of Le Mars, visited Saturday afternoon with Oscar and Alta
Mentzer at the Plymouth Manor nursing home. Alta is recuperating at the nursing home from a broken hip.
Saturday evening the group enjoyed a potluck supper at the Caryl Siebens home. Others attending the supper were Phil and Donna Vondrak, Sioux City; Lee and Ann De Rocher, Merrill;
Jerry and Martha Nielsen, Viborg, S.D.; Buzz and Virginia Leekley and grandsons, Westfield; Loren and Nancy Nielsen and Lance, Daryl and Claire Siebens, Christopher and Allison, Ronald
and Norma Wendt, Jennifer, Julia and Jason, all of Akron.
Sunday morning, some of the group had a brunch at Caryl Siebens' home. After the Whitakers left for their home, the others enjoyed the rest of the day at the Melvin Nielsen farm. Everyone returned to their respective homes Monday.
