SWAN ANDERSON FAMILY   

Swan Anderson immigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1894.  He located at Rock Rapids, Iowa.  He was a Spanish-American War veteran, serving with a South Dakota regiment.

On November 11 1904, he married Anna Stein, Alvord, Iowa. They came to Merrill where they lived the rest of their lives.

Swan was associated in the hardware business with Frank Veidt and later with Leo Hoffman.  He entered the automobile business with C. T. Norton and later sold his interest to Mr. Norton.  He managed the Sinclair Oil Station until his death in 1930.

The four children born to them were: Violet (Mrs. Dennis Hecht), of Merrill; Roland (Bud) 1907-1930; Helen (Mrs. Walter Rand) of Hollywood, California 1912-1970; Kenneth (Swede) of Canago Park, California.  There were three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
