WILLIAM POLLARD FAMILY William and Elizabeth Pollard were born in Cornwell, England, in 1830. About 1840 they came to Lindo, Wisconsin, and with them was William Jr. At the age of 28 years, he enlisted in the Civil War and was wounded in the Battle of Bull Run, forty days after he enlisted. He was mustered out September 12, 1861, from Mineral Point, Wisconsin. In 1869 he was married, and they joined the wagon train and came to Plymouth County, Iowa, where they homesteaded. To this union six children were born: Joseph (who passed away at 17 years); Josie who married Gust Dennler Sr.; John; Emmanuel (Tair); Elizabeth who married Ralph Woods; and Richard. ~Source: Merrill Centennial 1872-1972, pages 85-86 |
