Steven Vincent Burke
Note from family contributor, Kim Callahan: This is my Grand-Uncle Steven Vincent Burke (1894-1971). He was another Plymouth County WWI Veteran who survived the war. He lived in Westfield. His parents Steve & Rose (McConville) Burke were my Great-Grandparents. His father Steve was an Indian Interpreter for Sitting Bull at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Steve Vincent was born at Ft. Yates, North Dakota as was my Grandmother Henrietta (Burke) Hoschler. I’m not certain, but I believe Steven Vincent Burke serviced in a Chemical Munitions Unit in World War I. He died in 1971 and is buried in the Dell Rapids, SD Cemetery. I’ve included a photograph of his headstone along with copies of his Draft Registration Card for World War I.
