whole family respected his comments and advice he gave them from years of
experience. Homer kept young
at heart, respected by neighbors and friends as an honest, dependable, patient,
hardworking man who would go out of his way to help someone in need. These
words could be a fitting tribute to Homer by his many friends:
"You're
just the kind of friend that's nice to have nearby, friendly when we need a
friend, but never time to pry. We hope our hands will always clasp the
friendship tried and true and we will try our best to be a neighbor just like
you."
His philosophy of life
could be summed up in these words:
"To
be honest, to be kind, to earn a little, and to spend less, to make upon the
whole, a family happier for his presence, and to keep his friends."
