Bain, Evelyn
Twaddle Adkins
Mrs. Evelyn Bain, 83, of Elmo, Missouri, died Monday
morning, November 17th at Community Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa
where she had been a resident for the past month. She was born December 5, 1913 at Shambaugh,
Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Twaddle.
She married Lowell Adkins who preceded her in death and later
married W. K. (Chub) Bain who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Bain had operated the Bain station and garage in Elmo for
many years until health forced them to close.
She is survived by daughter, Becky Blumer and husband Sam of
Olathe, Kansa, Step-son Hylton Bain and wife Wilma of Cameron, Missouri, and
daughter-in-law Mary Jane Adkins, Clarinda. There are four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great
grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband Lowell, son,
Lanny, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, November
20, at the Elmo United Methodist Church. Burial will in Lamar Cemetery near Elmo. Memorials may be directed to the Elmo United Methodist Church. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.

Buesing, Viola Frances Rope
Viola F. Buesing, 57, of Clearmont, Missouri, died Tuesday
morning, May 27th, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas
City, Kansas after a 1 ½ year illness.
She was born September 25, 1939 at Clarinda Iowa, the
daughter of Leroy J and Edna Herzberg Rope. Viola was employed at Lisle Crop, and was a member of St. John’s
Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Rope and twin
sister Violet Goecker.
She is survived by four children: Angles Walkenbach and Husband Tom of Hermann,
Missouri, Valerie Hamilton and husband Leon, Burlington Junction, Missouri, Pam
Crowdes and husband Bill, Blue Springs, Missouri, and Brian Buesing and wife
Natalie of Rich Hill, Missouri. There
are 6 grandchildren, also surviving is her mother Edna Rope of Clarinda,
brother Wendell Rope, sisters, Marcene Von Dielingen, Clarinda, Iowa and Edith
Kamprath, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
Funeral services were Friday, May 30th at St.
Johns, Lutheran Church Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Gary Jaeckle
officiating. Burial was in the Clarinda
Cemetery.

Eberly, Robert R
Robert Ross Eberly, son of Andrew E Eberly and Carrie E
Eberly, was born in Harlan Township, Page County, Iowa, August 12, 1920 and
departed this life, August 5, 1935, at the home of his parents at the age of 14
years, 11 months, and 27 days.
To mourn his departure are his father, mother and four
sisters, Mrs. Marie M. Thompson, Mrs. Pauline Wilcoxson, Mrs. Edith L. Wallace
of Clarinda and Lutie M. Eberly at home; three brothers, Merl A of Clarinda,
and Roy W and William S at home. He was
leaves a host of nieces and nephews , uncle and aunts, cousins, neighbors and
fries, as anyone that met him was his friend.
Robert has been in failing health for the last eight
weeks. He was a patient suffered, never
once complaining. He was always thinking
of theirs’ comfort instead of his own. He had a bright cheerful disposition, spreading sunshine in the home and
among his friends.
He attended school at Clarinda and at the Davis school. For the past year he has been at the Iowa
School for the blind in Vinton, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted by Mrs. T. J. Overholt
Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at the Mennonite Church in Shambaugh. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Stone assisted with
music. The burial was in the Butler
Cemetery, just southwest of Shambaugh.

Good, Mary Grace
Mrs. Uril (Mary) Good of Clarinda, Iowa died Tuesday
February 6, 2001. She was the eldest
daughter of Charles F. and Edna (Tompkins) Dugan, born May 25, 1904 in Harlan
Township.
She attended country school eight years, graduated in 1918,
the largest Page County class to graduated that the Westminster Presbyterian
Church in Clarinda. She attended Amity
High School in College Springs that fall and graduated in the Spring of 1918.
Mary and Uril were married March 4, 1925. They lived on farms in Siam, Braddyville,
Blanchard, and College Springs area. Uril and Mary celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in 1975 and in
September of 1980 they moved to Clarinda to be closer to the doctor on account
of Uril’s health. He died October 28,
1982. Also preceding her in death were
her parents, three brothers, Harold Dugan, William Dugan and Melvin Dugan, an
nephew, Larry Griffith, a niece Mary M Friday, and two baby nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Elma
Gilliland and her husband Wayne of Wayne, Nebraska and Opal Griffith of
Greeley, Colorado, sister-in-law Ethel Dugan and Verla Heil of Clarinda, Iowa,
Sara Good of Seymour, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 22:30 pm Friday, February 9,
2001 at the Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa with Pastor John Duling
officiating. Burial was in the Maple
Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa.

Olenius, Florence O. Whipp
Mrs. Florence O. Olenius, 91, of Clarinda died Monday night,
November 25, 1991 at her home.
She was born October 21, 1900 near College Springs, Iowa,
the daughter of Fred J. and Lora Johnson Whipp. On October 9, 1924, she was married to Chester Olenius who preceded her
in death August 4, 1977 after 53 years of marriage.
Mrs. and Mrs. Olenius farmed near Coin until moving to
Clarinda in 1952. Mr. and Mrs. Olenius
was a member of the Coin Presbyterian Church and moved her membership to
Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clarinda after they became Clarinda residents.
Survivors include a son Robert and wife Barbara Olenius of
rural Clarinda, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Brothers are Bill Whipp, Clarinda, and Paul
Whipp, Wichita, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two
sisters, Mabel Taggart and Margaret Martin, and a brother Charley Whipp.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday at Trinity
Presbyterian Church with Rev Charles Bulger officiating. There open visitation at Walker-Merrick
Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarinda Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Olenius, James L
James L. Olenius, 91, of rural Villisca, died Saturday, October 14, 1989, at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda.
He was born February 15, 1898, in Cambridge, Illinois, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Hardiman Olenius. On Dec 24, 1925 he was married to Alice Miller at Corning, Iowa. They had farmed in the Villisca area. Mr. Olenius was a member of the Villisca United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice, two children, Roger and Rueben, and two sisters, Irene Olenius and Gladys Shepherd.
He is survived by his three children, Mrs. Dorothy LaVaughn Gillespie of Englewood, Colorado; Mrs. James (Janice Marilyn) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; and James Richard Olenius of rural Villisca; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters Bessie Warne and Laura Kunkel both of Pleasant Hill, California.
Visitation will be from 7-8 pm, Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, October 18, at the United Methodist Church in Villisca.
Burial will be in the Villisca Cemetery.

Olenius, Robert
Robert Olenius, age 76, of rural Clarinda, Iowa, passed away
Thursday, October 6, 2005 at his home in rural Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services were held 10:30 am Monday,
October 10, 2005 at College Springs Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jim
Crapson officiating. Visitation with the
family was 7-8 Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home,
Clarinda, Iowa. Burial was in the
Clarinda Cemetery. Memorials may be
directed to the College Springs Presbyterian Church of the Page county Cancer
Society. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lowel Olenius was born March 1, 1929 at Des Moines,
Iowa. He was the son of Chester Olenius
and Florence (Whipp) Olenius. Bob was a
1946 graduate of Coin High School. He attended Milford Trade School, Milford,
Nebraska. He was united in marriage
December 6, 1947 at the Coin Presbyterian Church to Barbara Williamson. Bob’s early working career included working
at John Deer Factory and Meredith Publishing company in Des Moines. He then farmed for most of his life. Bob had many interests; he enjoyed snow
skiing, golfing, collecting guns, John Deere toys, riding motor cycles (he and
Barb went to Sturgis in 2001 and 2002). He was a member of the College Springs Presbyterian Church.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents and
brother-in-law Jack Williamson. Survivors include his wife of rural Clarinda, Iowa, son Vic Olenius and
wife Aileen of Victoria, Texas; son Greg Olenius and wife Betsy of Clarinda; daughter,
Valerie Blair and Husband Randy of Clarinda; daughter, Angela Rogers and
husband Richard of Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; and two step grandchildren; sister-in-law Phyllis Williamson of
Emerson, Iowa; Nieces and nephews.

Penwell, James Miller
James Miller Penwell, son of Aaron and Mary Penwell was born December 15, 1849 near Hillsboro, Ohio, and passed away May 6th, 1934 in Clarinda, Iowa. He came to Iowa with his parents when a child of four years and spent the remainder of his life in the immediate vicinity. On June 29, 1871 he was married to Elizabeth Erkenbrock. To this union eleven children were born, Bert of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mary who died February 14, 1905, Cora, Ben and Amy of Carpenter, Wyoming, Maggie of Colville, Washington, Allie of Lincoln, Nebraska, William, Dilla, Dave and Clarence of this vicinity. Besides his wife and family he leaves to mourn his death a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
