Alice Cade, 82, of Clarinda, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, December 29, 1999, at Integrated Health Services, Clarinda, Iowa. Alice was born May 20, 1917, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Ernest and Lesta Anna Bartlett Radke. She graduated from Clarinda High School in 1935. April 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Glen Cade who preceded her in death in 1978. Alice was employed at several Clarinda businesses including long time employment at Owens Drug Store.
Survivors include her daughter, Deanna Warneke and husband Richard of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Paul Cade and wife Debbie of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Glen Richard Cade and wife Carol of Lithonia, Georgia; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; twin sister, Elizabeth Thompson of New Market, Iowa; sister Hope Milleson of Clarinda, Iowa; sister Ruth Tornholm of Red Oak, Iowa; and two sister-in-laws, Ersa Savage and Golda Clark of Clarinda, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, 1999, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa, with Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery. Mrs. Iva Lou Cunningham, 98, of New Market died Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 5, 1988) at Bethesda Care Center where she lived for the past three years.
She was born Jan. 27, 1889 at Clarinda, the daughter of Alonzo L. and Sara Elizabeth Miller Stearns.
She was married to Miles Madison Cunningham, who preceded her in death in 1959.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by two grandchildren: George Cunningham of Council Bluffs and Helen Joyce Mikesell of North Platte, Ne. There are five great-granchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Jessie Cunningham of Council Bluffs is a daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, and two sons, Harold and Kenneth.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Memory Cemetery near New Market with Rev. Fred Malone officiating.

Vernon Lloyd Grafft was born February 19, 1923 in Page County, Iowa to Earl and Nellie (Bearce) Grafft. He attended Amity High School. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Christensen on September 19, 1943. Dorothy was the daughter of Ray and Margurite Christensen of Coin. Vernon served in the European Theater during WWII. He and his family were members of the Coin Methodist Church before moving to Idaho. Vernon retired from the Burley, Idaho Post Office after twenty years of service.
Vernon and Dorothy were the parents of three children, Kathy Horn of Peoria, AZ; Martha Nelson and husband Don of Monmouth, Oregon; Duane and wife Vickie of Sac City, IA. There are 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Vernon made his home with his daughter Kathy this past year and died December 20, 1999. He will be cremated and burial service will be held at Burley, Idaho at a later date. Vernon will be buried beside his wife.
Garland Wayne (Ted) Hale, 89, of Clarinda was born February 25, 1912, in Eagleville, Missouri, the son of James Henry and Elva Jane Hubbard Hale and died April 26, 2001, at Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda where he had been a resident for the past three days.
Ted married* Inez Louise Hale on January 17, 1941. She preceded him in death on February 29, 1948. He was married to Opal Marie Ware on July 13, 1949.
Ted had hung wallpaper and painted from 1947-1969 in the surrounding areas. He enjoyed seeing the transformation his work created.
He is survived by his wife Opal of Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, daughter Beverly Jean Rosa and husband Leonard of Santee, California, two stepsons, Robert (Chuck) Nelson of Chandler, Arizona and Norman Nelson and wife Claire of Big Bear City, California, five grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, wife Inez, daughter Patricia Louise Anderson in 1996, a son Robert Wayne Hale in 2001, a sister Nina and brothers' Glade, Dillie and Glen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at the Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda with the Reverend John Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Clarinda Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Clarinda Foundation.

Vivian Marie Halperin, 67, of Sun City, AZ died Saturday, Dec.25, 1999, at Hospice Care Services & , Residence in Peoria, AZ.
She was born August 24, 1932 at Hartville, MO, a daughter of George Robert and Velma Lois Delk Cutburth. On October 5, 1973, in Phoenix, AZ, she was married to Charles Embeit Welch, who preceded her in death on July 28, 1988. On September 1, 1993, in Phoenix, AZ, she was married to Henry Hyman Halperin who preceded her in death on July 2, 1996.
Mrs. Halperin moved from Hartville to Clarinda, IA, as a small child. She attended high school at College Springs. She was confirmed into the St. John's Lutheran Church in Clarinda on May 14, 1950. She worked for Berning's Cafe in Shenandoah, IA, Union Carbide in Red Oak, IA, and later, in computer production for Honeywell Corporation in Phoenix, AZ. She and the late Mr. Halperin, retired to Sun City in 1994. She was a member of the Women of the Sun City Elks Lodge, Women of the Glendale Loyal Order of Moose, Peoria Post of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Glendale Post of the VFW Women's Auxiliary
Surviving are two children, Linda Maas of Shenandoah, IA and Cynthia Palmer of Fountain Hills, AZ; one brother, Hadley Cutburth of Blue Springs; five sisters, Melvina Arnett and Allison Tuggle, both of Houstonia, Bessie Tuggle of Syracuse, Tressie Mittenburg of Sedalia, Verda Gann of Kansas City; one grandchild, Tiffany Palmer of Red Oak, IA; and two great-grandchildren, Remington and Tori Tranbafger of Red Oak, IA.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Cutburth; and four brothers, Buford Cutburth, Farmer Cutburth, Loy Mac Cutburth and William A. Cutburth.

Mary Louise Huff, 78, of Bedford, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, December 29,1999 at the Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center, Bedford, Iowa, where she had resided since October 5,1998.
She was born January 19. 1921, near Elmo, Mo, the daughter of Walter and Viva Huff. Mary lived with her mother in Blanchard, Iowa for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blanchard. On October 31, 1991 Mary and her mother moved to Bedford, Iowa to live with their son and brother Robert Huff. After her mother died in January of 1994, Mary continued to reside with Robert and Onolea Huff until she entered the nursing home.
Mary is survived by 3 brothers; Robert Huff arid wife Onolea, Bedford, Iowa; Jack Huff and wife Marcia of Weatherby, Mo; Richard Huff, Cameron, Mo, one sister Kathleen Rinehart, Centralia, MO, one sister-in-law, Pauline Huff, Nebraska City, NE and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norval Huff and a brother-in-law, John Rinehart.

Jenkins, Lorene "Laurie" Louise O'Reilly - Lorene "Laurie" Louise Jenkins, was born on November 10, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio and entered into rest on Thursday, September 15, 2015 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Laurie was the daughter of William Carroll and Florence Mae (Grant) O'Reilly. She was raised in the Cleveland, Ohio and later lived in Chicago, Illinois, and Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Shenandoah. She graduated from Saint Augustine Academy, 50 years ago in 1966.
She married Howard Edward Jenkins, Jr., on January 29, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed in advertising all her life.
Laurie was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved animals. She fostered cats and dogs for the People With Paws organization in Shenandoah.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann O'Reilly, nephew, Michael O'Reilly, brothers-in-law, Thomas Hughes, Frances Hughes and William F. "Bill" Jenkins, mother-in-law Hazel Jenkins, and father-in-law Howard Jenkins, Sr.

Kelley January 14,1957. He preceded her in death November 20, 1982.

Edna Mae Kite, 86, died on Oct. 18, 1998, at a local hospital near her home in the Colorado Springs, Colo., area. She had been a resident of the area since 1981.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1912, in Coin, Iowa, the daughter of William and Florence Smith. She worked in the restaurant business at the Tall Corn Restaurant in Shenandoah, Iowa.
She is survived by her brother Roy Dale Smith and grandson Brett Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Smith; daughter Nancy Kite Johnson; brother James M. Smith; step-brother Philip Brewer; and step-sister Okalona Brewer.
No funeral services are scheduled. Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colo., was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Malcolm Monroe McCoy was born Nov. 2, 1918, the second of four children born to Ralph Monroe and Ella Ruth Crain McCoy of rural Hepburn, Iowa. He lived on the homeplace until September of 1995, when he went to live at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Villisca, Iowa. He died Oct. 18, 1998, at the care center at the age of 79.
He attended Sam's School in Valley Township. He graduated in 1936 from Villisca High School where he was active in basketball and softball. After graduation from high school, Malcolm became a partner with his father, Ralph, in the McCoy Guernsey Farm. For over 40 years the McCoy Guernsey Farm was regionally and nationally known for having record producing cattle. In 1977, Malcolm sold the dairy herd and, with his son Neil, continued farming and began raising hogs. On Sept. 20, 1940, he married Marjorie Marie Vardaman from Shambaugh, Iowa. Four children were born to this union: Monroe, Nile, Neil and Nancy. After the death of Marjorie in 1952, he raised his four children with the help of his mother and father.
Malcolm was a devoted member of the Fairview Church of Christ for over 60 years. He taught adult classes and was treasurer for over 40 years. Even during his three years at the care center, Malcolm looked forward to attending church services. Malcolm was very dedicated to 4-H and its beliefs. He was a charter member of the Valley Booster 4-H Club. He was a leader of this group for 35 years. He served on the 4-H Committee for 35 years and was an active member of the Page County Farm Bureau. Malcolm and Marjorie were members of a neighborhood Dinner Club. Even after Marjorie's death, Malcolm enjoyed the companionship of the Dinner Club members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his parents; brothers Harold and Maurice; a sister, Maravene Fidler; and brother-in-- law Eldon Vardaman. He is survived by his four children, Monroe and Barbara McCoy, Forest City, Iowa; Nile and Donna McCoy, Newton, Iowa; Neil and Becky McCoy, Villisca, Iowa; and Nancy and Randy Clark, Runnells, Iowa. There are also nine grandchildren, Julene McCoy, Chicago, 111.; Shane McCoy, Fort Collins, Colo.; Ryan McCoy, Newton, Iowa; Stephen McCoy, Newton, Iowa; Jeromy McCoy, Lincoln, Neb.; Katina Steeve, Des Moines, Iowa; Dustin McCoy, Villisca, Iowa; Angela Ingle, Runnells, Iowa; and Mathew Clark, Runnells, Iowa. There are three great-granddaughters, Megan Steeve, Des Moines, Iowa; Charity Ingle, Runnells, Iowa; Paige McCoy, Lincoln, Neb.; sister-in-law Irene Vardaman, Shambaugh, Iowa; brother-in-laws Marion Vardaman of Lake wood, Colo., and Eldon Fidler, Clarinda, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca with Winford Lee officiating. Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery. McLaren, J.F. - John Frederick McLaren, son of George Kells and Lucille Gail (Crist) McLaren, was born on April 25, 1926 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on September 14, 2016 at his home in rural Farragut, Iowa.
J.F. was born and raised in Shenandoah, Iowa. He graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1944. On October 5, 1947 he was united in marriage to Vivian Marie Laumann at the First United Methodist Church of Shenandoah. They resided in rural Farragut, living on the same farm from 1947 until J.F.'s passing.
J.F. was a farmer from 1943 until 2016. They rented from Faye Esden from the spring of 1947 until 1979. In 1979 they purchased the farm at a public auction. He enjoyed collecting and painting John Deere antique tractors. J.F. was a very intelligent man and could fix just about anything. One of J.F.'s sayings as he looked at a building or piece of machinery, "Well, I think a fella could make one of those." He loved his family and was a good steward of the land.
J.F. was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shenandoah, Iowa Farm Bureau, past Board Member of Federal Land Bank of Shenandoah, Fisher Township Committee for ASCS and Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian McLaren, parents George and Gail McLaren, brothers Robert McLaren and Sterling McLaren.
J.F. is survived by his sons, Derryl McLaren and wife Carma of Farragut, and their family Jay McLaren and his wife Lucia of Shoreview, MN and their children, Liam, Cole and Keenan; Jared McLaren and wife Aryn of Grimes, IA and their daughter Hannah; Dennis McLaren and wife Susan of Farragut, and their children, Matthew McLaren and wife Pamela of Farragut and their children Sage and Jackson, Kasey DuVal and husband Donny of Nebraska, City, NE and their children, Annastyn, Landon and Alyvia; daughter, Debra Delay and husband Bradly of Olathe, KS and their children, Ryan Delay and wife Stacey of Sacramento, CA, and Kelly Delay of Olathe, KS; brothers, George Allen McLaren of Atlanta, GA, and Richard McLaren; sister-in-law Joyce McLaren of Shenandoah, and a brother-in-law Donald Laumann of rural Farragut. Mrs. Hazel Miers, 80, of Shenarrdoah, Iowa, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born June 30, 1916, at Blackwater, Va., daughter of J. M. and Nora Baker Glass. On May 23, 1936, she married Harold Miers. Mr. and Mrs. Miers farmed in Page and Taylor Counties before moving to Shenandoah in 1993. Mrs. Miers worked at MHI for 19 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Miers was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Lee in infancy, a grandson, Brent Miers and three brothers, Henry, Ray and Palmer Glass. She is survived by her husband Harold, five children, Marvin Miers and his wife Sharon of Clarinda, Donna Kelso-Watson and her husband Wayne of Colfax, Iowa, Marilyn Cabbage and her husband Don, Wheeling W. VA., Diane Peterson and her husband Charles of Shenandoah, Darrell Miers and his wife Linda of Clarinda, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, her twin brother, Don Glass, two sisters, Mary Miers and Pauline McCune, all of Bedford.

Veleda Mae Minard, 98, of Atchison died Sunday, January 2, 1999 at the Atchison Medicalodge.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 1999 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Robert Ziegler, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Veleda Minard warn born on February 22,1911 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Sheridan J. and Edith L. Herriman Green. She graduated from high school in New Market, Iowa. She and F.E. "Bob" Minard were married on January 12, 1931 in Red Oak, Iowa. They had made their home in Clarinda and New Market, Iowa before moving to Atchison in 1956 where she has made her home since. Mrs. Minard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Atchison.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband F.E. "Bob" Minard on March 4, 1990 and two brothers. Mrs. Minard is survived by one son Monte Minard of Atchison, KS.; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and nineteen step great-grandchildren and a very special friends the Dorothy Robinson family.
Alice V. Moore, 101, of Essex, Iowa, died Friday morning, May 2, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, from the First Presbyterian Church in Essex. The Rev. Mark Woldruff will officiate and interment will be in the Essex Cemetery. A memorial to the Essex Presbyterian Church is being established. There will be open viewing at the Hackett Funeral Home in Shenandoah after 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Alice Victoria (Peterson) Moore was born Nov. 10, 1895, to John and Augusta (Hultman) Peterson on a farm near Essex. She was united in marriage to Richard Moore on July 19, 1919, in Red Oak, and to this union one son, John William "Billy" Moore, was born. The Moores managed the Coburg Elevator for one year and farmed many years in this area before moving to Missouri where they both worked at the Lake of the Ozarks resort. After retiring, they moved to Essex and she lived there until she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Essex.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1977 and her son, who was killed in an airplane accident while serving in the United States Air Force in 1977. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mrs. Nora Almquist and Mrs. Florence Johnson, and one brother, George Peterson.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Julie Ann and her husband John Adams of Barrington, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, William Charles, Benjamin Tyler and Bianca Marie Adams; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Sederburg of Stanton, Iowa, Mrs. Irene Johnson and Mrs. Evelyn Nostrum, both of Essex; two brothers, Raymond Peterson of Riverton, Wyo., and Harold Peterson of Green Valley, Ariz.; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Peterson of Shenandoah, Iowa; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Nelson, Beatrice "Bea" Ellen Sheley - Beatrice "Bea" Ellen (Sheley) Nelson, the daughter of Faye Leonard and Ruth Jeannette (Loomis) Sheley, was born February 18, 1915 in the family farm on the Missouri and Iowa border between Hopkins, MO and Bedford, IA.
Bea lived with her family on the Sheley family farm for the first ten years of her life. She attended elementary school in Hopkins, MO. In good weather she rode her horse the five miles to school. The stable owner would have the horse ready after school for the trip home. During the winter months she stayed in Hopkins with her grandmother. Her family moved to Shenandoah when she was 12 and attended the Shenandoah schools. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1933. During her high school years she worked at Woolworths Five and Dime. After graduation she worked for Henry Fields Radio Station, KFNF, in the advertising department.
On November 26, 1936, Beatrice and Axel Linne Nelson were married in the Shenandoah United Methodist Church, where Bea has a been a member since 12 years of age. Into this marriage two daughters were Rebecca (Becky) Ruth and Jeanne Cecelia.
Bea and Linne spent 42 happy years on the farm. After the girls entered school Bea went to work at Mays Seed and Nursery in the IBM department, where she worked for 32 years.
Bea and Linne were charter members of CHB Sunday school class, and members of the Nishna Valley Saddle Club. Bea was secretary for the Shenandoah Quarter Horse Show for many years.
Bea loved going with her family to horse shows, playdays, trail rides and campouts with the saddle club. She often stated those were the best years of her life. She loved attending her grandchildrens sporting events and having Shawn and Stacey come from Colorado to stay in the summer. Bea traveled with friends to Europe and many other bus tours. She also had many vacations with her daughters and families.
Bea did not want to be called great-grandma, because she thought it made her sound old. Her great grand daughter Hope, at a young age began calling her "Bumble Bea." From then on she was called "Bumble Bea" by all ten of her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Linne, parents, sisters Bonnie Lawrence, Teresa (Kite) Kreir and Betty Shedder and brothers Melford J. Sheley, Sr. and Fred Sheley.
Bea is survived by her daughters Becky McConkey and husband Ron of Ft. Morgan, CO and Jeanne Kocis and husband Don of Essex. Ina Viola (Miller) Nelson, daughter of Frank G. and Annie L. (Kempe) Miller, was born July 19, 1903, in Page County, rural Essex, Iowa, and died May 1, 1997, at the Community Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa.
She grew up on the family farm near Essex and moved with her parents to a new home in Essex in 1922. She graduated from Essex High School in 1923 and attended summer school in Creston, Iowa, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school for 2-1/2 years, first near Yorktown, and then at Hillcrest Country School near Bethesda.
On Jan. 6, 1926, she was united in marriage with Leonard G. Nelson at Essex and to this union one son, Leland Roger, and one daughter, Rogene, were born. Following their marriage they farmed near Essex and then near Bethesda. In 1971 they retired to a home they built in Essex. She was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Quilting Group. She was active in the Women's organization in the church and had also served as a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed her family and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved flowers, especially roses, and gardening. Besides quilting and sewing, she had crocheted many afghans.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Leonard in 1990, a brother Walter, a sister Agnes, her son Leland and a grandson, Terry Sederburg.
Survivors include her daughter, Rogene had her husband Wayne Sederburg of Essex; grandchildren, Larry Nelson and wife Nancy and Kevin Nelson, all of Mount Morris, 111., Dwight Sederburg and wife Risa of Villisca, Iowa, Clair Nelson and wife Deb of Clarinda, Iowa, and Kirk Sederburg of Keokuk, Iowa; and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Wilda Lundin and husband Everett of Oregon, 111.; a stepgranddaughter, Laura Gabriel and husband Jonathan of Gordon, Wis.; four sisters-in-law, Myrtle Johnson, Helen Nelson, Violet Nelson and Eldora May; one brother-in-law, Glendon Nelson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Opal Noble, 96, of New Market Iowa, died Thursday, December 9, 1999, at the Clarinda Regional Health Center. Opal was born February 28, 1903, at New Market, Iowa to James and Addie Weaver Lewis. She attended New Market School. January 7,1924, she was united in marriage to Guy Noble, who survives. They had celebrated 75 years of marriage. She was a life long resident of the New Market area.
Survivors include her husband, Guy a resident of I.H.S. care center of Clarinda, towa, daughter, Gloria Jeanne Treese and husband George of Lincoln, Nebraska, son John Stanton Noble and wife Wanda of Urbandale, Iowa, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brother, Verlin Lewis of Puyallup, Washington. Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 13, 1999, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa, with Rev. Dan Wiebesiek officiating. Burial will be in Memory cemetery, New Market, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the New Market Methodist Church or to I.H.S. Care Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rohrer, Constance "Connie" M. - Constance "Connie" May (Joslyn) Rohrer, daughter of Marion Guy and Gloria Louise (Snow) Joslyn, was born on July 9, 1947 in Clarinda, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the George C. Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa. She was 69 years, two months and six days old.
Connie early years were spent in Shenandoah, she attended school in Shenandoah.
On September 27, 1964 she was united in marriage to Franklin Butch Rohrer. They resided in Shenandoah, Clarinda, Sidney, Tabor, Villisca, Bennett, CO before moving back to Shenandoah. They were divorced in 1999.
Connie had many jobs thought out her work career. She worked for Mount Arbor Nurseries, CNA for Stanton Care Center, Villisca Care Center and The Ambassador in Sidney, house keeping for the Tall Corn Motel in Shenandoah, food service for D's Dinner in Red Oak and George C. Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg and as a bartender at the Eagles Club in Shenandoah.
Connie was a member of the Eagles Club of Shenandoah. She enjoyed fishing, camping, yard work especially in her flower beds and collecting Elvis memorabilia.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Kelly Jo Rohrer, son Byron Eugene Rohrer, parents Marion and Gloria Joslyn, brother Jerry Joslyn and her ex-husband Franklin Butch Rohrer.
Connie is survived by her daughter Melinda Kay Baldwin and husband Kenny of Villisca, brother Benjamin "Benny" Guy Joslyn of Malvern, grandson Wyatt Baldwin of Villisca, granddaughter Mirranda McDowell Lewis and husband Donte of Council Bluffs, IA, great-grandson Devante Terrell Lewis of Council Bluffs, IA daughter-in-law Mamie Jackson Rohrer of Shenandoah and other relative and friends.
Celebration of life memorial service will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Craig Sarver, 47, of Burnsville, Minn., died at his home on Saturday morning, Oct. 17, 1998, after a lengthy illness.
Craig was born Feb. 24, 1951, at Corydon, Iowa, the son of Ed and June (Massey) Sarver. Craig was married to Donna Diane Mclntyre on Nov. 5,1971. Craig had worked in the computer business as a computer programmer.

She worked at the Clarinda Mental Health Institute for five years. She then worked at the Glenwood State Hospital School for several years as a supervisor.
Dicie is survived by her children: daughter Peggy Erickson of Glenwood, IA; son Bob Scroggs of Clarinda, IA; daughter Leona Davison and husband Arnold of Braddyviile, IA; son Jack Scroggs Jr. and wife Carmen of Pacific Junction, IA; daughter Grace Derry and husband Max of New Market, IA; and son Gene Scroggs and wife Phyllis of Clarinda, IA; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Sr., in 1981; two sons: Harold and Leonard Scroggs; brothers: Fred, Ray, William, Tom and John Mathews; sisters: Delia Mathews, Dorothy Bloom, Daisy Mathews, Emma Dunn, and Maude Jensen; grandchildren: Sherry Ann Scroggs, Jeremiah Davison, Brenda Scroggs and Jackie Scroggs; and a great-grandson Scotty Sederburg.

Mary Jane Shaw, age 89 of Tabor, IA, died Monday, December 27, 1999 at the Eiler House in Clarinda, IA following an extended illness. Mary Jane was born September 14, 1910 in Malvern, IA to Russell L. Kesterson and Anna (Rainey) Kesterson. She moved with her family south of Tabor when she was 6 months old and tnen to Adel, IA returning to Tabor at age 11 where she graduated from Tabor High School in 1927.
She was married December 22, 1930 in Lewis, IA to Ernie Shaw. Mary Jane earned her teaching degree from Peru State College in 1963 and taught country school at Shady Grove and East Port School for 3 years followed by teaching in the Pacific Jet. School System and at Fremont-Mills Elementary School retiring in 1976.
She was a 50 year member of the Tabor United Methodist Church and UMW, member of Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma-Life Member of the Iowa State Educational Association, National Education Association, and Fremont-Mills Educators Association, and a former member of the Tabor Order of the Eastern Star.
Mary Jane became a resident of the Eiler House in Clarinda after suffering a heart attack in June of 1999.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie Shaw; brother, Lloyd Kesterson; granddaughter, Amy Shaw; and great grandsons, Shawn Tanser and Damien Shaw.

Clarence V. Smalley, 93, of Clarinda died Tuesday morning (Jan. 5, 1988) at Bethesda Care Center. He was born March 10, 1894, at Imogene, the son of Edward and Anna Clites Smalley.
He was married to Lola Mae Androy, who preceded him in death.
Smalley had worked as a butcher, later at Iowa Nebraska Light and Power, police chief in Clarinda and for Butternut Bread.
He is survivied by a son, Delbert Smalley, Omaha, Ne, four grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren .
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, son Kenneth and two sisters.
Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Rev. Sara Malone officiating.
Burial was in Clarinda Cemetery.
Bruce Bernard Wagoner was born July 21, 1925 on his parents' farm northwest of Clarinda. He was the son of Edd and Mary Harms Wagoner. Bruce attended Center country school and Immanuel Lutheran School. He graduated Clarinda High School in 1943. He was active in building the Brokaw FFA Chapter House.
After graduation he worked on the Wilbert Wagoner farm and helped his father farm. June 20, 1948 he and Jean Mills were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary June of this year. After the couple were married they lived on the Henry Wagoner farm close to the home place. In 1956 they purchased the farm they currently reside on. On this farm they raised twelve children. Bruce and his family were well known for their musical talent. Early in his life Bruce was active in vocal contests and won many awards. He traveled and performed in many major cities.
In April 1975 Bruce was hired as one of the original employees at the new factory in Clarinda. He has remained working at NSK until his death. NSK employees stated Bruce was "The Daddy" of the bunch. A real stabilizing factor for everyone. He also established a record of being the oldest employee. He also remained active in farming.
Bruce passed away Wednesday morning October 14, 1998, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children Dennis and his wife Sherry of Westcliffe, CO, Gordon and his wife Claudia of Piano, TX, Leslea Caswell and her husband John of Burnsville, MN, Steven of Clarinda, George and his wife Kim of Atlantic, IA, Norman and his wife Beth of Alleman, IA, Dwight and his wife Teena of Columbus, NE, Howard of Clarinda, Patricia Jones and her husband Antwone of Bellevue, NE, Mary Sissel and Dan of Chanhassen, MN, Jeffrey of Rochester, MN, and Mark and his wife Annette of Omaha, NE; thirty-seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Leora Goecker of Clarinda; brother Lee Wagoner and his wife Marion of Clarinda; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ivan.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial at Immanuel Cemetery. Visitation was Friday with a salvation celebration at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to a Piano Fund at Clarinda Lutheran School.

James W. Yeisley of Houston, TX, died December 25, 1999 in Houston N.W. Hospital, the results of a car accident 12 years ago.
He was born in Laredo, MO, December 21, 1932, to Walter Cole and Pearl (Davision) Yeisley. He lived in several towns in SW Iowa, moving to Coin in 1943 with his family. He attended Coin School, graduating in 1951. He was very athletic and participated in many sports. While he played 6-man football in high school, he was on the 11-man team his first year at the University of Nebraska.
He was married to Jody Jones in Denver, CO, in 1958. To this union 2 children were born.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife Jody, of Houston, son Michael Yeisley, daughter-in-law Leslie, daughter Dana Yeisley, 2 granddaughters Melanie and Eirica Yeisley, all of Dallas, TX; 2 sisters: Colleen and husband Merton Haynes of Buffalo, NY; Joan and husband Lyle Fox of Coin, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Coin United Methodist Church at a later time with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery.
