The key elements to the 1925 Iowa State Census that I have transcribed are: name, age, marital status, place born; father’s name, age, place born; mother’s name, age, place born; where parents were married. If an age is NOT given for the parent, but says (--), it means that they were deceased OR that the person given the information didn't know their age OR if it gives a number making the parent younger than the child it means the census taker interpreted this question to "how old were they when they died" which was their last birthday. Beware of this column. These do not have household numbers or page numbers on the original. Each booklet has a number. Note: there is more data on the original census such as renter or owner of home, sometimes says whether in the army but no particulars, citizenship, education, religious affiliations. |
