LEROY PETERSON IS MISSING IN ACTION

Believed To Have Been Serving Somewhere in Mediterranean Area

Pfc. Leroy Peterson, 24, son-in-law of Mr. adn Mrs. Ray Moody of Sibley, is one of three Iowans reported missing in action in Italy since September 19. Pfc. Peterson was a first gunner in the U.S. Infantry and left the States early last April for the African area from Camp Edwards, Mass.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Peterson of Renville, Minn., he was inducted into the U.S. Army a year ag in June at Fort Snelling, Minn. His marriage to Olive Moody took place in March, 1942, at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mrs. Peterson left Sibley June 16 for Des Moines to join the WAC's and was first stationed in Denver, Colo. Her last letter from her husband was dated September 7, and it is presumed it was written from Africa. Mrs. Peterson is now attached at Elgin Field, Florida, with the WAC Detachment, A.A.F., P.G.Command.
