OLD BANK STILL IN USE
Pete Bosma and Bishop Robertson are shown posed in what was the front door of the original bank building in Harris. This picture was taken (in the sun and shade) the Fourth of July this year with Bosma on the left and Robertson on the right, and the photographer perched precariously on the fence bounding the garden patch.
The building on the side facing shows the windows and entrance. Front doors were often set at an angle in structure. This was probably the first building of the Harris Savings Bank. It was on the West Side of the street with the windows facing east and the entrance to the southeast. A real estate and insurance office in the structure was occupied by R. J. Robertson; this wooden building is attributed by them as an earlier edifice. It possibly is close to a century old and still used.
The structure at Bosmas is used for
storage with the present north side encased in steel siding and
the roof replaced with a slanting flat-type of steel roof
also. The building had multi-purpose usage for businesses
and even as a house before being used by R. W. Robertson as a
hardware store. The structure was purchased by Emil Holst
and moved to its present location some years ago from
downtown. It is now located just south of the ball diamond
and near the street north of Bosmas residence, and faces
west.
