"T" Biographies
Thompson, Timmons
Oscar & Mabel Thompson Family
Oscars
father, Peter Thompson, came to the United States in
1904, from Denmark. He homesteaded in different parts of
the country until 1916, when he came to Every, Iowa, and
married Anna Clemmensen. Three children were born to
them; twins, Oscar and Elmer, and a daughter, Frances.
In 1939, they moved to a farm south of Harris. Pete
passed away in 1958, and Oscar and Elmer continued
farming.
Oscar married Mabel (OConnor) Davis in 1956. He
continued farming until 1971, when he had to quit because
of poor health. He kept dealing in horses until he passed
away in 1982. Mabel is still living in Harris.
Elmer died in 1962, Frances is married to Myron McNiel
and lives at Rochester, Minnesota.
Lee Timmons Family
Lee
(Edward Lee) Timmons married Hazel Viola Hensch December
27, 1916, and they lived on a farm southwest of Harris,
in Allison Township, all their lives.
Lee Timmons was born in Melvin, Illinois, September 5,
1893, and moved with his family to a farm north of
Ocheyedan, in 1900, when he was eight years of age. In
1908, the family moved to a farm two miles south and
three miles west of Harris.
Hazel Hensch Timmons was born in Cherokee County in 1893.
After she and Lee were married they lived on the Timmons
farm and spent their entire married life there.
Hazel died January 9, 1977, and Lee continued to live on
the farm until 1984, when he entered the Lake Park Care
Center. He died December 10, 1987. Lee and Hazel are
buried in the Ocheyedan Cemetery.
Their children are: Merlin Lee, Dorothy Alene, Marvin
Dale and Margaret Eloise (Goodell).
