George W. Allen and Penelope Ann Johnson, ca. 1890s. George arrived in Monona County in 1878 with his second wife and six children. George was born 2 April 1818 in New York, and died 22 December 1898 in Whiting, Iowa. He married (1) Melissa Aldridge and had children: Hiram, Josephus, Horace, and Lorenzo. He married (2) Penelope Ann Johnson Purdy and had children: Melissa, Theodore, Clara, Charles, George, and Ona. Penelope was born 22 Jun 1828 in Pennsylvania, and died 8 October 1910 in Whiting, Iowa. She married (1) Mr. Purdy, (2) George Allen.

Jacob Luther Hedges and Sarah Evelyn Ross were married 5 July, 1920. Jacob was born 12 May 1899 in Onawa, Iowa, to William B. and Julia Hedges. He died 20 November 1927 in Onawa. Sarah was born 1 July 1904 in Harlan, Missouri, to Julius W. and Mary Ann Ross (nee: Dilley). She died 10 May 1996 in Stockton, Iowa.
