OBITUARY
Roy M. Farmer, 84
GILMAN -- Roy M. Farmer 84, of Gilman, died on Monday, July 27, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the Pursel-Davis Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Miller of the Gilman Community Church will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington, Mo.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Gilman Community Church.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1907, in Holdenville, Okla., the son of Roy A. and Florence V. Ligon Farmer. He grew up and was educated in Marshalltown and Grand Meadow, Minn. On Oct. 17, 1934, in Marshalltown, he was married to Lucille M. Lauless. They lived in Montour from 1953 until 1983. He resided in Desloge, Mo., for a short time, then to Gilman where he has since resided. He worked for Cessford Construction Co., as a welder, retiring in 1970, and he also taught a welding class as Marshalltown High School.
He attended the Gilman Community Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Alline (Mrs. John) Harrison, Saint Anthony; a grandson; a sister, Marie Troutner, Gilman; and a brother, Donald R., Excelsior, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1983; three sisters, and four brothers.
