DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE BEEBE

Another Old Resident Passes to Her Reward Funeral Wednesday

Mrs. Lucretia Read-Beebe, wife of Mr. George H. Beebe, passed away after years of suffering, at her residence, 212 North Second street, at 9 o’clock last night.

Mrs. Beebe was a woman of many noble traits of character, gentle and unobtrusive, kind to the poor, comforting the afflicted. Her heart always showed sympathy with the distressed. Mrs. Beebe was a native of Montgomery county, Ohio, but has lived in Marshall county since 1852, her father, Jonathan Read, settling near LeGrand. She was married to Mr. George Beebe Nov. 17, 1875, in this city, her father’s family moving here in 1870. She left five children to mourn her loss. Just before her death she called each one to her bedside and gave them their mother’s blessing in a sweet, solemn tone they will never forget, and her heart-broken husband was also assured that her presence would never leave him in watching over her home. She left a brother, Mr. W.I. Read, of this city. Mrs. A.B. Masterson, of Timber Creek, Mrs. Isabella Smith, of Manning, and several other relatives, who reside in this city.

The funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow at 1 p.m., Rev. Ward officiating. The pall bearers will be G.W. Norris, William Fisher, George Estabrook, S.W. Evans, Edward Kennedy and J.E. Wildman.
