Timber Ridge Cemetery

This cemetery was formerly known as Vander Linden Cemetery. It is near the north overlook by the dam at Lake Red Rock. If one parks in the parking lot by the north overlook and then walks down to the bike trail, take a right. Shortly after turning, there is a hiking trail on the left. Take it and within a 1/4 mile one can find the cemetery off to the left.

From 1862 until 1915 the cemetery was called the Vander Linden Cemetery. This name was given since the land that the cemetery is on was owned by Leendert Vander Linden.

Below is a list of those buried found among the items left by Elizabeth Van Steenwyk Rus.

• 5 infant children of Peter James Van Steenwyk: Jennie dod 1889; unnamed girl, died at birth dod 1890; Elizabeth 4 days 1895; Johanna 6 days March 21, 1904; J. G. (Johanna) 5months & 4 days, August 30, 1908
• Three children of P. Brat, including: ???? Brat, 3 months, August 22, 1889; Anna 1 year September 30, 1897
• One child of De Hamer
• One child of Reering
• One child of Dick Van Ommen
• Two children of Philp Schell: one was Charles 3 months & 14 days Mar 14, 1901
• Two children of Frank Cox (one boy's name was Charlie)
• Four or five children of De Vries
• Three children of Tunis and E. Hendrina (Drene)(Vander Linden) name Vander Meide
• Frank W. Cox, Age 61Y 6M 11D dod April 11,1913
• Mrs. Jet Conn (age 32), sister of Dena Cox
• E. Van Klatt

In 1915 the remains of the following were moved to Lot # 110 in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, IA:

• Leendert Vander Linden, age 64Y 6M 7D, dod July 13, 1902
• child Christina Vander Linden, age 5Ys, dod May 13, 1886
• child Christrina Vander Linden, age 9M, dod Nov. 15, 1888
• five other children
• Mrs. Wm. (Elizabeth V.D. Linden) Onstine - 1876 - 1906

The cemetery was restored by Charles L. Rus in 2005.
