The photo above is housed at Pella Community Memory Database with the following description: A drawing based on an early photo of the Old Scholte Church building on West First Street. The building is clapboard, and has a bell tower, and a steeple. On the front of the church are painted the words, "IN DEO SPES NOSTRA ET REFUGIUM", or IN GOD IS OUR REFUGE. Arched windows are on the first and second floors of the building.

Text below the drawing: Drawn from a photograph was this picture of the old Scholte church with its Latin inscription. The building has been torn down much to the sorrow of all. It would have been priceless at this time had Pella people had the foresight to recognize its value. It is hoped no other buildings of historical value follow it.
