* These were the children of John Clark Weatherwax and Charlotte Fuller. The last time I was there, there was another headstone beside it which had a J.G Weatherwax and another headstone that was buried in tree roots (see photo at right).

Contributed by Virginia Alvord Bennison, 05 Aug 2011:
I just visited the broken stones pictures on the website. Some of the broken stones are probably my ancestors. Several years ago I wrote and was sent a copy of the burials of my family. The following is what I received: ALVORD, Rachel A. dau of M & P d. 25 May 1861 ae 21-10-14 + ft.st."R.A".; ALVORD, John W. son of M&P d. 25 April 1858 ae 10-0-24; ALVORD, Archibald son of M&P d May 1858 ae 12-1-7 (These 3 Alvord stones were all down) NOTE: ae stands for AGE (the three numbers indicate yrs-mos-das) These Alvord children were the children of Menzo and Polly Alvord who lived in Benton, Iowa. These Alvords were children of my 2nd Great Grandfather, Menzo Alvord. |
