will observe their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 13, with a noon dinner for the immediate family and an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Walker. Mr. Leaven and the former Mary Schmitz were married Oct. 14, 1908 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Spencer's Grove. They farmed northwest of Walker until 1958 when they moved to Walker.  They have one son, Lawrence of Independence, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
