Native of Kossuth
Deceased was born and raised on a farm three miles north of St. Joe Feb. 17, 1873, and with the
exception of a few years spent in the west lived in this county all his life. He was married to Nettie
Telshaw and two sons, Charles and Carroll, survive. They live in the west and had not been
contacted at this writing. Two brothers, William, of LuVerne, and Frank, of this City, and three
sisters, Mrs. Adelia Carrell, Algona and Mrs. Clara Devine and Mrs. Nellie Goetzman, both of
Pomona, Calif., survive.

WILLIS J. GOETZMAN
Willis J. Goetzman, [--], of 861 E. 3rd street, Pomona, passed away Tuesday evening at 5:35 o’clock,
following an illness of several months.
Mr. Goetzman was born June 11, 1869, in Boone, Ia. He came to California from Algona, Ia., in 1902, and
for the past 40 years has resided in Pomona. He was a member of the Church of Christ and belonged to the
Pomona Elks lodge.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Nellie Goetzman, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Beck, Chino; Mrs.
Henrietta Snyder, Pomona; Mrs. Louise Gardner, Upland; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie McCracken, Riverside;
Miss Edna Goetzman and Mrs. Belle Kinsley both of Boone, Ia.; and a brother, Fred Goetzman, also of
Boone, Ia. There are also eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Todd Memorial North chapel Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Rev. Seth E.
Rehkop, pastor of the Church of Christ, 6th street and Towne avenue, will officiate. Interment will be made
in Pomona cemetery, where the Elks ritual will be given at the graveside.

FRANK DEVINE, 64, died at his home last Thursday, after suffering a sudden stroke, and funeral
services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at McCullough’s chapel. The Rev. G. J. Kuyper was in
charge of the services, and burial was in Riverview. Pallbearers were Walter Kempley, Del
Clopton, R. S. Blossom, Fred Geigel, Keith Strayer and I. W. Nelson.
Mr. Devine was the youngest of the family of Abigail and Barnett Devine, who for many years
made their home on a farm in Kossuth county. He lived most of his life in Kossuth countv. The
latter years, in Arizona.
Besides his wife, Mr. Devine is survived by nine children: Mrs. W. R. Schrieber (Irene), Swea
City; Mrs. John Lowe (Ardeen), Fairmont; William, Randall; Louise, Spencer; Clarence, Oxford
Junction; Raymond, in the merchant marine. Robert, Duane, and David at home.
