Û State-Level Death Records

Death Records Index, July 1918 - 1933

The State Historical Society of Iowa has provided access to pre-1935 state level death records that are not on county record microfilm, via indexes to state level death certificates.

Each death record contains the deceased's name, birth date, birth place, death date, mother's maiden name, death certificate number, and the archive box number.

Researchers have several options for obtaining copies of the actual death certificates. Pay the basic reference fee and contact the Historical Library and Archives Reading Room to order a photocopy of the certificate, or visit the reading room personally and pay only for the photocopy.
