VITAL STATISTICS Column Definitions |
||||||||||
The first two columns give the first and last name of the individual indexed. The third column labeled “Event” uses a code as follows: A= anniversary B= birth DN= death notice (lists death date and name of funeral home) M= marriage or engagement N= miscellaneous (birthday) O= obituary or death information The fourth column shows the date the newspaper was issued. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the event occurred on that date. Most items give the actual date in the body of the article The fifth column gives the page number where the article was found in the newspaper. This is the number of the page that can be used to find the story in the Press-Citizen or on the microfilm of the paper. Most of the vital statistics may run late, as much as a week, a month or even six months. Funeral services may be held weeks or months after a death. A service reminder/obituary may appear again prior to the delayed memorial service. Return to Vital Stats Index Page |
