                                                                      p.1
                    Linwood Cemetery
                       History by Pauline Lillie

Location
Section 3, Lenox Township 81 Range 9; located about 4 miles
north of 149 from Amana, then west ½ mile; Or 149 to W 22
then north ½ mile.

History
The 1881 History mentions this as in Section 3, and contained
about 100 graves; The Atlas of 1874 p, 13- cemetery on the T.
Riley farm. The Atlas 1900 p. 4-0 ;This cemetery is in the NW
corner of Section 3, on the L.L. Riley farm.; The 1915 Atlas
p. 5, on the Mary J. & Lucy A, Riley: The 1915 History mentions
the cemetery.

Probably the earliest families to bury hero were the Riley fam-
ilies according to the stones. There are only a few families
listed in the biographies of Lenox township. Once checking out
families of this area I found them buried in Johnson County, -
east.

Condition
Well kept fence and gate, stones in nice repair; Again a cem-
etery which does not have trash up around the stones.

Remarks
Ruth Edward Merrit and I copied this first in summer of 1964,
Again checked July 28, 1975 and found it being used, neat and
clean and visited often.
