Iowa County Cemetery Stones and History 1844-1975 (manuscript) by Pauline Lillie

                              WOLF CEMETERY p. 1
                                                  (Washington Twp.)
                    History by Pauline Lillie

Location
Section 2, Washington 81, Range 10, About 4 miles north and 4 miles east
of Marengo, on Hy. F. 12.- Gone- Obliterated. -

History
This cemetery appears only twice: Once on the 1900 Atlas p. 40 under
Lenox Township on the Adam Wolf farm, same on Atlas of 1915 p. 5: Town-
ships listed differently after Amana was carved out (All north of Iowa
River are hard to understand townships) Best to check the townships,
numbers and the range.

On the 1940 Atlas p. 7 the land is owned by Harry Ballard for Section 2-
Mrs. Ballard told me (1970) it had been removed. Was vague as to when
where- how many graves- who they were, etc. There is a small rise in the
ground close to the road, west of the farm buildings, where she said it
was located: To-day it is completely farmed.

This would be located about 2 miles west of the Lenox Cemetery in Sec-
tion 8 (New Jerusalem Church) or one mile south of Benton County line,
or two miles east of the Conn Cemetery in Washington Section 5.

The early atlas, show many farm building around this corner, and more
than usual school buildings. I have no idea about it,: One would have
to contact old residents. It must have had a name, and that I do not
know either.

Remarks
Some day I may run this out, but presently I do not intend too.
