Some Notes about Battle Township (from Norma Auen)

One of the first settlers to Battle Township was James and Margaret Brown who came March 1874 by stage from Denison, Iowa. They purchased the SW corner of section 25.

A post office called Cornelia was established in NE corner of Section in 1880. It was closed in 1883.

A Methodist Church was located in the late 1880’s, it was destroyed by a tornado in 1905. A new church in section 16 was built.

Battle Center Cemetery is located in section 15. It was platted in 1890
