BIG DEMAND FOR CHILDREN
32 Orphans Found Homes in 3 Hours
|
IOWA FALLS, IOWA—June 21—A most surprising demand for children was shown
here when 32 children were taken into Hardin County homes in less than 3
hours. The mere announcement in the local press that a number of
homeless children would be placed in good homes in the vicinity, brought
people here from every part of the county, and it is estimated that no
less than 500 persons called at the Woods House interested in securing a
child for their homes. Before noon the 32 boys and girls had been taken
to home in Hardin County and will make their future homes in various
parts of the county.
Long after the last child had been placed, people arrived in the city
seeking an opportunity to secure a child for their home. The children
were ages 7-14 of various nationalities. They are placed by a Society
that is given assurance the child will be given the best of treatment
and education.
