Funeral services for Amy Joan Theis of Riceville were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. The Rev. Bob Ament officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Joan, 64, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City.

Amy Joan Theis was born October 23, 1936 in Osage, the daughter of Leonard and Charlotte Lottie (Crum) Theis. She attended Riceville schools and after graduation furthered her education at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids where she received her degree. She worked in Cedar Rapids following college. After her mother fell she returned to Riceville to assist her mother. She was a retired school teacher and provided home care for the elderly in the Riceville and surrounding area.

She is survived by one brother: Robert of Riceville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
