SWEENEY, Clarence "Sally" Mellon 1908 - 2001

Clare/ce^'Suy" Mellon Sv/eeney, 92, of rural New Haven, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Elma. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 23, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven.

Clarence was born August 17, 1908 in Black Hawk County, the son of Edward and Winifred (Mellon) Sweeney. The family later moved to Mitchell County and farmed in the St. Ansgar area. Clarence attended rural Wardell School in St. Ansgar Township.

On August 12, 1931 he was united in marriage to Alma Brandt. They lived and farmed in the New Haven area many years. Clarence was a long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Preceding Clarence in death were his parents and three brothers, Glenn. Bert and Laurence.

Survivors incclude, his wife Alma of New Haven; a daughter LaVonne Regan and her husband James of Avon, Ind., and her three sons Douglas, David and Thomas Johnson; a son, Gene Sweeney and his wife Dorthy of New Haven and their children Coreen, Brett, Michele, Sean, Gale and Ivy; a son, Don Sweeney and his wife Sue of New Haven and their children Angie, Melissa and Chris; 11 greatgrandchildren.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home of Osage handled the arrangements.
