STUMME, Conrad C. 1916 - 2001

WAVERLY -- Conrad C. Stumme, 85, Waverly, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001 at Allen  Memorial Hospital, Waterloo from complications following a fall in his home  on Tuesday Aug. 7.

Funeral services wll be held on Friday, Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church - Western Douglas, with Rev. Kim Thacker officiating.

Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery Western-Douglas.

Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 30 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and also at the church on Friday for an hour before services.

Conrad was born on Jan. 6, 1916, east of Denver, IA, the son of Arthur and Hulda (Brandt) Stumme. He attended country school east of Denver, and then attended one year at the Denver High School. He then attended C.C. Camp in Dundee, moving to Fairfield in 1935. While in Fairfield he worked on building dams and did terrace work. Conrad was united in marriage to Lorene Boerschel on Aug. 15, 1942 in Lancaster, MO. In 1944 the couple began farming north of Tripoli, and in 1947, the couple moved to their present farm on Ivory Avenue, where they continued to farm until semiretiring in 1981. Conrad enjoyed being outdoors, mowing  and working on his yard and also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and playing cards, But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene, who is a resident of the New Hampton Nursing & Rehab Center, New Hampton; his children, Marlys (John) Biermann, Marlene (Fred) Ho-meister, Marian Meyer, Janice (Vernon) Tonne, all of Tripoli, Joyce (Bob) Beck, Nashua, Roger (Jana) Stumme, Sumner, Diane (Bruce) Dann, Norfolk, VA, Lynn (Deb) Stumme, Waverly, Dean (Kathy) Stumme, New Hampton and Donna (James) Melson, Nashua; 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother, Rose (Mersbach); one daughter, Sharon Rosella Stumme in infancy; a son-in-law, Harold Meyer; a grandson, Mark Homeister; a granddaughter-in-law, Joan (Shonka) Meyer; one brother, Ewald Stumme and one sister, Leona Meyer.

Memorials may be directed to the family at this time, a memorial fund will be established at a later date.
